Wii Fit Challenge (Day One)

So I picked up Wii Fit today and I figured I would track my first month or so here so everyone can get an idea if it really works.  (It’s my goal to workout 1 hour a day.  30 mins before work and 30 mins after work.  My posts will be either late at night or early in the morning.)

Day One BMI: 33.36 (Obese)

Two Week BMI Goal: 33.01 (3 lbs)

Day One Weight: 288.4 lbs

Day One Fit Age: 30

BMI info:  A BMI of 30 and above is obese.  A BMI over 25 is overweight.  A BMI of 18.5-25 is Normal.  A BMI of 18.5 or less is underweight.

Day One Notes:  Wii Fit kicked my ass.  (I did 1 full hour today, whereas in the future I will be doing two 30 min workouts.) The push up and side thingy fucked me up actually.  In all the work out was tougher then I had expected but I felt surprisingly more energetic afterwards.

Splatterhouse is BACK!

Like a 2×4 to the dome, it surprised the hell out of me! First emerging two decades ago in 1988, Namco’s 2D gorefest Splatterhouse was a 2D cornucopia of blood, guts and goo. And now its time for Rick Taylor and his Terror Mask to return to Splatterhouse for what could quite possibly be the most unforeseen franchise revivals ever!

Splatterhouse is back!Rick Taylor

Slated for release in the summer of 2009, Splatterhouse is bound for the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation3. EGM Subscribers will have a first look exclusive preview at this next brutal installment when the June ’08 issue hits shelves. In the meantime you can check it out on

Here’s to hoping that come 2009 BottleRocket and NamcoBandai can deliver a Splatterhouse that will make us all say “Condem…who” and “Man Hun…what?”

HMG will definitely be keeping their eyes and ears on this one. That is, if our heads don’t get bashed in by a 2X4 first….

McHuffin Daily Digest (4/22)

Here is a cool bit of news for all you retro fans out there! Douglas TenNapel, creator of hit game franchise Earthworm Jim, today announced Earthworm Jim 4! Very little was revealed, not even a mention of platforms, but this will be one to look out for I am sure. And to make matters better, rumor has it that Douglas also has a TV series and movie based on Earthworm Jim in the works!

Marvel Ultimate Alliance has quietly slipped into 2009. It is believed that this is because Activision has fast tracked Spider-Man Web of Shadows.

As much as I would love to impress you with a long and informative post, I got nothing else! Please, please, please check out the Oban Star Racers post and go out and buy it ASAP!!!

Oban Star Racers Touchdown on US Shores

In the words of Brodie Bruce, ” I must be slipping at my old age…”

As much as I love Oban Star Racers I really don’t know how this one so slyly crept up on me, but apparently amongst today’s DVD releases US fans are finally given the opportunity to purchase (no importing needed) Oban Star Racers, Vol. 1: The Always Cycle. The first of two volumes in a beautifully animated, story-driven, twenty-six episode series.

The Always Cycle

The two-disc, Volume 1 set will feature the first 13 episodes:

Disc 1 (2:38:06):
A Fresh Start (22:35)
Hostilities Break Out (22:36)
Grave Like Grodor (22:36)
In Like Flint (22:36)
Cruel Like Ceres (22:34)
Playful Like Para-Dice (22:35)
Treacherous Like Toros (22:34)

Disc 2 (2:15:30):
Agile Like Aikka (22:34)
Surprising Like Super-Racer (22:35)
Resistant Like Rush (22:35)
Silent Like Spirit (22:35)
The Will to Win (22:36)
Make Way! (22:35)

Aside from thirteen amazing and beautifully animated episodes Vol. 1 is packed with some pretty nice extras which include, but is not limited to artwork, a making of featurette and a sneak peak into vol. 2.

For those of you not familiar with Oban Star Racers I highly recommend taking a tour of the official site and familiarizing yourself with the story and the beautiful world that Savin and his team at Sav the World Productions have created. And before you leave be sure to check out the the Oban Fan Shop and make a purchase to help support Sav the World. You can find more information here:

Oban Star Racers

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to go make a purchase…pending I can find it in stores and not solely online.

McHuffin Daily Digest (4/20) (Update 1)

Sorry Metal Gear fans, your beta for MSG Online has been postponed. Right now its officially TBA but looks like it will only be delayed until Tuesday. More as its available, and now to your regularly scheduled post.

So it’s Sunday, slow news day. In fact I really have nothing at all. Installed Metal Gear Online Beta on my PS3! Making my first post to the site via PS3! So what I am going to do is post a quick Okami review and get out of your hair!

I for one never bought Okami for the PS2. I always wanted it but never picked it up, so when I heard it was coming for the Wii I was excited to play this beloved, yet little known, game. So with great anticipation and high hopes I began to play Okami today. Let me tell you this is one amazing game. The visuals are among the best on the Wii and the game play is fun and addicting. The game has a somewhat Zelda-Esq feel but is very original. The paint brush aspect of the game is unlike anything I have ever seen, adding something fun and unique to this great game. On the other hand, the painting is my biggest complaint on the game as well. Don’t get me wrong when it works its great, but it can sometimes be very frustrating and downright annoying. Sometimes I would have to circle a freaking tree 10 times for it to regenerate. My circles seemed fine to me, but the game would not register them. Now I don’t know if this is a problem exclusive to the Wii version, or if it happened on the PS2 as well, but it does not ruin the overall experience. I would highly recommend Okami to all Wii owners and give it an 8.5 out of 10.

(Sorry my 4/20 post did not come online until early 4/21, I was experiencing some internet problems.)

In some news that surprised me today, Fox has renewed on the bubble series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles! It looked like this surprisingly good show was almost certain to be canceled, especially since its on fox, but it has somehow survived to see another day! Here’s to another good season and a long life on Fox!

McHuffin Daily Digest (4/19)

So here is the deal, I am going to try to make at least one post a day from here on out. What I want to do is make one daily digest post that will have all the relevant news for the day. From time to time there will be other posts. When something huge happens, for example MK vs. DCU, it will get its own dedicated post. But anyways on to the news!

One of the biggest stories that I want everyone to be aware of is that Konami made a mistake! This will affect you Metal Gear fans out there. I am sure a lot of you dropped 5 bills to pre-order and get your Metal Gear Online beta key. Well due to a printing error a number of the beta keys are incomplete! If this is the case you need to shoot over to this website and send ’em and email with your faulty code and a return email address and they will get you fixed up with a new code!

Rumor has it that the exclusive GTA IV content for the Xbox 360 may include entire downloadable cities. Fingers crossed on that one!

Todd McFarland is releasing TWO exclusive Halo 3 spartan figures at Comic-Con (July 24-27 / San Diego, CA) and they look badass.

Sad faces for all you Gears fans. Epic has announced that there will be now GoW2 demo. To bad!

And lastly 4 new Army of Two maps are due to hit PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles April 24th retailing at $7.99!

That’s all for today. Look out for a new action packed post tomorrow evening!

Mortal Kombat 8 Announced! (Update 1)

I know we are not really up and running just yet but this news is to damn big for me not to post. In fact this is either the worst, or best idea in video game history. Today Midway Games announced the newest game in its Mortal Kombat series and I KID YOU NOT its titled Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe!!! Just imagine the possibilities! Not much else was announced and a single promo image (below) was show. If this turns out good – it will be amazing, but it also has a distinct possibility of being one of the biggest jokes in gaming history. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available because I will be following this one with great interest.

(Update 1: A few videos are now avalible at Check em out!)
