Hancock (Will Smith) has been geared up to be an amazing super hero film about a troubled super hero who wins the hearts of the city thanks to the help of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman). While this is the first half of the film it turns into something much less fun. After an extremely fun and exciting first half a twist in the plot turns the movie into a real snoozer. All the fast paced action and fun is replaced with poorly written dialog and a directional disaster. The story is well below Will Smith’s potential and should have been skipped by the man who amazed us with I Am Legend, and made us cry with The Pursuit of Happyness. Charlize Theron is a train wreck in this film, but it is hard to blame her because her character is so poorly written. I don’t want to get into detail about Theron’s character because it would be a major spoiler, but I could have done without her part entirely. In fact her big shocking moment in the film failed to impress me in the slightest.
To make a long story short, this summer has been filled with to many great films (Iron Man, Incredible Hulk, Wall-E) and to many amazing films are still upcomming (THE DARK KNIGHT, Hellboy II, X-Files 2) to waste your time and money on this underachieving movie. Wait for Dark Knight, its going to be amazing!!!

Out of 10 Heavy Machine Guns
Hancock looks like interesting spin on the latest superhero movie craze… if nothing else at least Will Smith tends to be pretty funny
